Seasoned drummer, composer, and music educator Adrian Van Batenburg has colored the Pacific Northwest music landscape for over two decades. A founding member of the soulful Birch Pereira and the Gin Joints and the guiding force behind the improvisational journeys of Gems for more than ten years, Adrian’s rhythmic voice blends jazz drumming traditions, pop sensibilities, and the pulse of African rhythms. From the expressive foundation of his drumset to the subtle hues of his auxiliary percussion, Adrian crafts sonic tapestries that resonate with listeners. Based in Seattle, he shares his expertise teaching drumset and percussion at Lakeside School, Holy Names Academy, and his home studio, balancing his musical life with time with his wife and two children. Hear him perform with Birch Pereira and the Gin Joints, Gems, the Seattle Rock Orchestra, and as a sought-after sideman with various Jazz and Pop groups.
